USC junior Daniel Nguyen closed out a men's tennis three-peat in dramatic fashion as the Trojans trumped the previously undefeated Virginia Cavaliers in the national championship.
Despite taking a 3-0 lead after Steve Johnson and Emilio Gomez tacked singles wins on to the doubles' point, #1 UVA came all the way back to force a 3-3 tie and put all the pressure on court #3.
Nguyen, who clinched the title last season, missed out on his first two championship points, but fittingly, the third time was the charm for the now three-time defending national champs.
