March to Madness: Tourney Time

At 13-12 overall and 5-7 in conference, all postseason hopes seemed lost for the 2010-11 Trojans.

"I remember we lost to Oregon at home and everybody was really, really down," head coach Kevin O'Neill recalled the season's turning point.  "This team picked it up and played championship caliber basketball the rest of the way."

The strategists will point to O'Neill tweaking the rotation by putting Jio Fontan at his natural point guard spot and freeing Maurice Jones to attack offensively off the bench.  The head coach deflects the credit to his players.

"We are so far ahead of everybody else because we have a team of men who have great character," he said Sunday about overcoming sanctions.

A year after the USC program was denied the right to postseason play by self-imposed NCAA probation, they refused to be denied again.
