If you were not in Haas Pavilion that night, you never saw it. Maurice Jones put on the show of the season that was sadly missed by the non-existent television cameras.
Jones found his mojo in the second half of USC's win over Cal during an eight minute stretch when he hit five consecutive threes.
Many more of you saw Donte Smith's three-point barrage at Galen Center earlier in the conference calendar. The senior stroked a near record-tying eight three-pointers in a two-point loss.
Is it a trend? Jio Fontan hopes so.
"I don't know. I think we are just getting lucky," the junior point guard said. "Hopefully, someone else gets lucky again this game."
In all fairness, Fontan is the next guard due to dine on the Bears.
"I hope so. I'll take it," he laughed.
From a strategic standpoint, Cal is expected to play mostly zone against USC to neutralize Nikola Vucevic and Alex Stepheson in the paint, which means the Trojan guards will have their chances to get hot.
Smith is the most likely candidate to repeat the feat. The senior marksman is desperate to extend his college career.
"Donte is due to have a big game shooting the ball," said O'Neill. "His confidence looks like its a little bit shaky right now, but once he knocks down two threes at STAPLES Thursday, hopefully it will be right back."
If recent history teaches us anything, USC's guard trio will get their chances to triple.

Fontan has raised his game since taking over as the starting point guard.
