Burnett Earns Schollie

USC walk-on safety Tony Burnett was one of the great stories of last season when he rose from obscurity to star against Notre Dame and start against UCLA.

The redshirt junior was granted a scholarship this week by head coach Lane Kiffin.

Burnett will compete for playing time this spring at both safety and corner, while also contributing to USC's track and field team in the long and triple jump.

He was also honored with the Joe Collins Walk-on Award at the year end football banquet, but he'll happily be out of contention for that prize this season.

Burnett's tackling ability made him a bright spot in the secondary.
