Gilmore Fills WR Coach Opening

Former Nebraska assistant Ted Gilmore was officially hired today as the wide receivers coach filling the spot left vacant by John Morton.

TedGilmore.jpg"I'm thrilled to welcome Ted Gilmore to the Trojan football family," said head coach Lane Kiffin.  "For years, he has been regarded as an outstanding recruiter and wide receivers coach.  He comes to us highly recommended by a number of very prominent coaches.  I'm excited for him to start working with our talented group of receivers."

Gilmore, 43, spent the past 6 years (2005-10) at Nebraska coaching the wide receivers.  He also was the Cornhuskers' recruiting coordinator the past four years and added the title of assistant head coach in 2008.

As Kiffin mentioned, USC's receiving corps is filled with extremely promising, but young talent led by freshman All-American Robert Woods.  Gilmore will also look to cultivate highly-rated receiving prospects freshmen Kyle Prater (redshirt), George Farmer and Victor Blackwell plus returning contributors Brandon Carswell and De'Von Flournoy.

Former receivers coach John Morton left the program this offseason to join Jim Harbaugh's staff with the San Francisco 49ers.
