The annual USC baseball alumni game is this Sunday, February 13 at 4:00 p.m. at Dedeaux Field and the RSVPs are starting to role in with MANY more to come.
As we mentioned earlier, Mike Gillespie will be in attendance for the dedication of the new scoreboard in his honor. Gillespie won a College World Series with USC as a player (1961) and a head coach (1998).
On the growing list, Gillespie's 1961 national championship team will be well represented by Larry Hankammer, who made the College World Series all-tournament team, and Willie Ryan.
Also on the list is outfielder Greg Hanoian, who played under Gillespie on the famed '98 squad.
Plus, Murph Proctor is coming back to Troy, where he still holds the records for most games played and walks. He also has the third most hits all-time.
In a second dedication, the batting cages will be renamed in honor of the Boone family (pictured below). The Boone's were the first family in major league history to send three generations of players to the All-Star game, including USC alums Bret and Aaron Boone.
