Wild Night in the Coli

How wild was USC's 34-33 win over Arizona State?

*It was USC's first one-point win since 1995 against Stanford.

*It was the most points the Trojans have scored in a one-point victory.

*Malcolm Smith's 74-yard interception return for a touchdown was the longest pick-six since Kevin Arbet's 75-yarder against Louisiana Tech in 1999.

*ASU's LeQuan Lewis returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score, which is the longest KO return against USC since Iowa's C.J. Jones opened the 2003 Orange Bowl by shocking the Trojans.

*ASU CB Omar Bolden returned a tipped Matt Barkley pass 66 yards for six, which has not been topped since 2005 when Washington's Dashon Goodson went 76 yards.

*It was the first time since Oregon St. in 2003 that USC and an opponent returned picks for touchdowns.

*USC CB Torin Harris returned a blocked PAT for a defensive 2-pt. conversion for the first time since Micah Phillips turned the trick in 1994 versus Oregon State.

*USC has now won 11 consecutive games against the Sun Devils.

What a great game! But way too close for comfort.

correction, 2003 Orange Bowl

Did anyone else see Will Andrew #51 held by two ASU players on the kickoff that went all the way for a touchdown. I couldn't believe my eyes, the two ASU players dragged him 5 yards out of bounds and burried him. The ref on that side of the field went over to break up it up leaving the field of play while the the kick off was being run back for a T.D. I couldn't believe there was no flag either for the holding or personal foul. The Pac 10 Refs are horrible.
