The greatest intersectional rivalry in collegiate athletics is about to play out on the soccer pitch.
USC women's soccer downed Illinois in the first round of the NCAA tournament 3-1 this afternoon in South Bend, IN.
Coach Ali Khosroshahin's team dominated the Illini with goals from Ashley Freyer, Ashli Sandoval (50 yards from goal!) and Samantha Johnson. The three goal effort ties the school record for an NCAA tournament game.
The Trojans will now battle the Fighting Irish on Notre Dame soil for a spot in the final 16. The game kicks off Sunday at 1 p.m. eastern and 10 a.m. pacific.
