R.I.P. Norm Lacy

Norm Lacy, an offensive lineman at USC in the mid-1970s who became a successful high school football coach, died this past Saturday of a heart attack in Indio (Calif.) while on vacation.  He was 56.

A funeral Mass will be held this Wednesday (June 2) at 6:30 p.m. at St. Monica's Catholic Church (725 California Ave., Santa Monica 90403), with a reception to follow in the church hall.   

Lacy was a member of USC's 1975 and 1976 football teams after redshirting with the 1974 national championship Trojan squad.  He played on USC's junior varsity in 1972 and 1973.

After serving as an assistant football coach at Santa Monica (Calif.) High, where he taught and also coached wrestling and golf, he became a head football coach.  He led St. Monica High in Santa Monica to the 1998 CIF Division XI title and then Santa Monica to the 2001 CIF Division X title.
 
He is survived by his father, Norm Sr., wife Patricia, two daughters, a sister and two brothers.
