Jarvis Jones granted release to transfer

Sophomore linebacker Jarvis Jones, who missed USC's last five games of 2009 with a neck injury after an impressive early-season showing as a first-year freshman, has asked for and been granted his release to transfer from USC to any school of his choosing, Trojan head coach Lane Kiffin announced today.

Jones, a 2008 prep All-American out of Carver High in Columbus (Ga.), saw action as a backup strongside linebacker and on special teams in USC's first eight games last fall before sustaining the injury.  He recorded 13 tackles, including 1.5 for losses.

He did not participate in USC's 2010 spring practice because of the injury.
