Tilley Tower nearing completion

The finishing touches are being put on the large LED screen rising 100 feet above the corner of Jefferson and Flower outside the Galen Center. Here is some information on how it is progressing:

- The estimated date of completion is set for the end of April.
- Screens on both sides of the tower are angled in a "V" shape toward the 110 Freeway, making them easier to read for traffic coming from either direction.
- The USC letters just above the screen will illuminate at night, glowing, of course, in cardinal.
- The posts that support the structure extend approximately 30 feet below the ground.
- Per city code, there will not be any moving video shown on the screen, only text and graphics.  The athletic department will control the content that goes onto the screen.
- Also, per current code, there is no corporate or sponsorship signage on the tower, although that rule is currently being reviewed by city officials.

And now some photos...

The brick and tan composition of the tower matches quite nicely with the Galen Center's coloration

Named after longtime USC supporter Bill Tilley, the words "Tilley Tower" can be seen engraved below "Galen Center" behind the scaffolding

From the northeast corner of the Galen Center, the marquee's V-shape is clearly visible
