So, if you want to watch the football team practice...

| 1 Comment's how (AND you can support a good cause at the same time).  Come on out to this Saturday's Swim With Mike swim-a-thon at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.

The Trojans will be holding a spring football practice and scrimmage at 11 a.m. on Howard Jones Field.  If you raise $50 for Swim With Mike (either by getting people to sponsor laps you'll swim in the same pool that hosted the 1984 Olympics, or by simply donating the money yourself), you'll get a free ticket to the barbeque lunch that is served on the northwest portion of Howard Jones Field. (Or you can buy a $15 lunch ticket at the door). Then simply walk through the gate from the swim stadium to the adjacent football field and you can watch practice right up close along the sideline.

And while you're there, stick around for the famous annual relay race featuring the USC football team and the Song Girls. Joining them in the pool will be one of our favorite Trojan fans, Jake Olson, the 12-year-old who lost his sight to cancer. Hey, why not sponsor Jake for $50?  Last month, Jake beat Matt Barkley and Kristofer O'Dowd in a swim sprint, and he's aiming for a repeat performance on Saturday.

The 30th annual Swim With Mike festivities begin at 8 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. The Trojan Marching Band will show up at noon. There will be a silent auction with a number of cool football-related items, including sideline passes to home games, a train trip to the Oregon State game and autographed memorabilia from current and former Trojan players.

Since its inception in 1981, Swim With Mike has raised $10 million for the Physically Challenged Athletes Scholarship Fund. That money has helped more than 90 athletes who have overcome life challenging accidents or illnesses attend USC and 33 other universities.  For more information, check out
