- Scoring was harder to come by in today's scrimmage as the defense had a solid all-around effort. In addition to the intense pressure from the defensive line and linebackers up front, the secondary succeeded in limiting deep throws. The "D" limited both offensive units to four combined touchdowns - the lowest number in the first three scrimmages.

- Keeping busy on the defensive side was Devon Kennard, who collected eight tackles, including a three-yard sack. Jurrell Casey also brought pressure with five tackles and a six-yard sack. Torin Harris led the secondary with two of the seven total deflections.

- The offense did muster a few highlights, with tailback Allen Bradford leading the way. The senior rushed for 89 yards on 10 carries (8.9 average) and two touchdowns, with 39- and 35-yard scores.

- The quarterbacks continued to spread the ball around, something that should benefit the team in the long run with veteran wideout Ronald Johnson sidelined with a wrist injury. David Ausberry led the Trojan receiving corps with 4 catches for a team-high 77 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown grab.

- The signal callers combined to throw for 240 yards on 42 total attempts. Mustain finished 12 for 20 with 167 yards and 2 touchdowns in his most impressive outing of the spring and Matt Barkley was 11 for 20 with 73 yards.

- Johnson did participate in warm-up drills, catching a few passes as the offense ran through plays, and later fielding punts. Kiffin said after practice that Johnson may undergo wrist surgery soon.

- Although the team warmed up with several special teams drills, no special teams play took place during the scrimmage. After the day's action concluded, all quarterbacks stayed after for a few minutes to practice their placekick holding duties.

- Other players sidelined with injuries were Brandon Carswell, De'Von Flournoy, Zack Heberer, Allen Noble, Butch Lewis, D.J. Shoemate, Marshall Jones, Brian Baucham and Drew McAllister.

- FSN Pac-10 football analyst and former USC football player Petros Papadakis stopped by to watch practice.
