Diamond in the rough

4259376.jpegSunday was quite the day for safety Jawanza Starling.

Starling, who just finished his freshman football season, is now an outfielder on the USC baseball team, and he got to be dressed out for the Trojans' game against UCLA at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. Though he didn't see any live action, he said being a part of the matchup -- which attracted a surprising 14,558 fans on a picture-perfect L.A. afternoon -- was something to cherish.

"The experience was great," said Starling, who's from Tallahassee, Fla. "It was my first time playing on a major league field. It was really cool."
