Ned Miller, who served as the official statistician for USC football games for the past 54 years, died on Sunday of cancer. He was 73.
Miller's funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
Miller began working on the USC stat crew in the Coliseum press box in 1956 and became the head statistician in 1975.
He was regarded as one of the nation's best football in-game statisticians. He never used a calculator or computer, instead calculating all the statistics in his head and then recording them by hand. While working USC games, he recorded the statistics of seven Heisman Trophy winners, 123 All-American first-teamers and seven national championship squads.
