Willie Mack Garza, who has 16 years of collegiate coaching experience, has been hired as an assistant coach at USC, new head coach Lane Kiffin announced today.The 40-year-old Garza spent the 2009 season as a defensive backs coach at Tennessee. The Volunteers were 12th nationally in pass defense and pass efficiency defense. Previously, Garza coached four seasons (2005-08) at North Dakota State, including the final three as defensive coordinator, along with 11 years at four other stops.
In the late '80s and early '90s, Garza was a four-year starting cornerback and safety at Texas, where he also began his coaching career as a graduate assistant from 1994-96.
