Coaches are making their final pushes with prospects and Signing Day is just five days away, so the USC Compliance Office would like to share a warning to Trojan fans as the annual recruiting milestone inches closer:
It might seem like a harmless way to help, but in reality, it could hurt more than anything.
With the National Letter of Intent signing date drawing near, we just wanted to remind you that fan-driven wooing of high school prospects via Facebook and other social networking sites is not permitted. The USC Compliance Office is requesting that all Trojan supporters learn about the pitfalls of social networking sites when it comes to NCAA regulations.
Creating Facebook groups or contacting prospects via message boards, Twitter or other social networking sites to encourage them to attend USC violates NCAA regulations and can negatively impact the USC athletic program, so please refrain from crossing any lines when it comes to the world of cyber-recruiting.

You know- this is ridiculous.
So what prohibits me from setting up a fake account as a Bruin fan and launching all out "Join Us" attacks on recruits UCLA is trying to land?
I could actually get UCLA into trouble?
Pathetic ncaa rules that make no sense and worse, cannot possible be prevented from breaking.
dumb,dumb,dumb.
What's "Facebook"?
Yeah! Let's do it.
I'll create one for Florida and Texas too.
Wow, USC compliance office pleading about NCAA infractions from fans? People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, right?? First Pete Carrol and now Lane Kiffen, and u r worried about fans causing recruiting violations?? HAHA, now that right there is FUNNY, I dont care who u are.
That is like Charlie Weis calling out someone for being fat.....
