In the opening practice of Senior Bowl week yesterday, Taylor Mays recorded the hit of the day, one of his trademark levelings of a helpless receiver deep over the middle, according to numerous reports.
ESPN.com wrote in a Senior Bowl recap that Mays had some ups and downs, "USC S Taylor Mays had a highlight-reel hit on Citadel WR Andre Roberts on a seam route and dislodged the ball, but on the very next play Oklahoma State QB Zac Robinson overthrew Alabama TE Colin Peek and Mays could have had an easy interception but was looking for the big hit instead and completely missed the ball."
