Any doubts the Trojans won't be excited for the Emerald Bowl can be thrown out the window now.

Calling attention to quotes from Taylor Mays and Kevin Thomas in today's L.A. Times, Coach Carroll invigorated the team's perspective on the Dec. 26 Emerald Bowl in San Francisco. To further create an excitement for the game and three-week preparation process, Carroll also showed a slideshow containing pictures of the city, AT&T Park, Alcatraz and the team's plush downtown hotel, a presentation that filled Heritage Auditorium with oooo's and ahhhh's.

"Taylor and Kevin couldn't have said it better -- we truly enjoy practicing, being together as a team and playing the game," Carroll said during this afternoon's team meeting. "We're going to have a ton of fun practicing and playing football and going through all the bowl activities, just like we do every year."

Coach Pete after the way the team has played this year and some of the coaches have coached, not you Pete you have coached exceptional, I don't think the Trojans deserve a whole week in SF. What about some of us alumni, fans and supporters who cannot make the trip to SF because of Chtistmas or financial reasons. Pete you should practice more in LA and not have so have so many days off in between. The way the Trojans have played they need all the days to practice or we will be in deep bandini. Pete I think you need to make another revision to your updated practice schedule. Fight on! Harold

I went to my first USC game on the 5th. I had a great time supporting the Trojans. You are right Pete. It starts right now. I sense great things from the adversity this year, even though one could hardly call 8 and 4 a failure. Everyday counts, even right now. Wasting time waiting to start shifting gears, uping the stakes,at a later date is defeat right now. That could be applied for anything in life, that living statically for results later will never win over living, thinking, acting and being dynamic now. Fight on Trojans. Your success on and off the field mean a lot to all of us who root and support you. The emerald bowl is a gift. Take that game for all it is worth. Fight on!

I disagree with the previous comment. Because the season is obviously not what we had hoped for, the players' morale has to stay up if they are to play well in the Emerald Bowl. Sometimes, it's not all about Xs and Os, it's about finding a way to invigorate the players. No one does that better than Coach Carroll, and if this is the way he thinks he'll do that, I'm behind him all the way.

I just don't get it folks.
If I remember correctly NCAA rules state 15 practices, no more.... yet our SC Trojans are only going to practice about 10 sessions? It's not like the offense and defense are ruthless..... they have misfired most of the season.
Don't ya'll think you'd want to ensure a victory against BC? I hope PC and "da boyz" aren't taking this bowl game too lightly, and assuming the offense and defense will step up and bring back a win.....
Hmmmm, I'm confused as to the seriousness of the coaches & team this year. I don't understand what the mindset is in Heritage Hall right now... but then again, what do I know?
We'll be rooting for you guys to bring back a win and have a great time doing so.
Fight On.
