As you might expect for schools that are 12 miles apart, the connections abound between USC and UCLA. Five current Trojans have familial ties to UCLA, while four UCLA players have family bonds to USC. Take a look at all the connections between the two programs:
- Linebacker Michael Morgan's brother, Steve, was a defensive tackle at UCLA from 1999 to 2002.
- Tailback Marc Tyler's father, Wendell, was a running back at UCLA from 1973 to 1976, winning All-Conference honors in 1976.
- Linebacker Shane Horton and defensive end Wes Horton, brothers on USC's roster, are sons of Myke Horton, who was a UCLA offensive tackle in 1973-74.
- Center Abe Markowitz's father, Barry, was a UCLA linebacker in 1974.
- UCLA tight end Jeff Miller is the brother of former USC tight end Jimmy Miller (2005-08).
- UCLA center Kai Maiava is the brother of former USC linebacker Kaluka Maiava (2005-08).
- UCLA running back Demetrius Papadakis is the son of former USC linebacker John Papadakis (1970-71) and the brother of former Trojans Taso (1994-96) and Petros (1997-2000).
- UCLA defensive back Brandon Sermons is the brother of former USC tailback Rodney Sermons (1994-97).
