Thoughts from Monday's practice, through the eyes of USCRipsIt...

- USC's brief practice -- full on noticeably high energy -- kicked off the Stanford game week and officially pushed the Trojans into the final quarter of the 2009 season. "Let's have a helluva week," Coach Carroll said in the post-practice huddle. "Let's have a week that just won't quit."

- Matt Barkley and wideout Ronald Johnson connected for the top two plays in the no-helmets workout, both on touchdown-scoring bullets over the middle during 11-on-11 drills. The first was a beautiful strike through the secondary and the second came on the final snap of the day, when Johnson tipped the ball to himself and caught it in the end zone as a pair of defensive backs crisscrossed in front of him.

- Wideout Damian Williams watched practice with a boot over his sprained ankle, and Coach Carroll said his status for Saturday will be determined after doctor visits Tuesday night. Carroll said he expects Williams to sit out of practice until at least later in the week. Brice Butler and De'Von Flournoy will step up in his absence.

- Out since the Oregon State game two weeks ago, tight end Anthony McCoy did some light rehab work on the side but did not practice.

- Linebacker Chris Galippo, who suffered a bruised knee in the Arizona State game, lightly participated in practice.

- Fullback Stanley Havili took part in the most amount of practice since injuring his shoulder against Notre Dame last month. He's expected to start Saturday.

- Scouts from four NFL teams attended the workout.
