Besides all the USC-UCLA family connections, the coaching staffs also feature several bonds, as eight coaches have a tie to the rival school. Check it out:
- Special teams coordinator Brian Schneider held the same position at UCLA in 2003-05.
- Defensive line coach Jethro Franklin coached UCLA's interior defensive line in 1999.
- Linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr. played at UCLA in 1984-87.
- Defensive graduate assistant Kris Richard's mother, Patricia, is a UCLA graduate.
- UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel earned his law degree from USC.
- UCLA offensive coordinator Norm Chow held the same position at USC in 2001-04.
- UCLA running backs coach Wayne Moses was an assistant at USC in 2001.
- UCLA offensive line coach Bob Palcic was an assistant at USC in 1992.
- A combined six members of the two staffs participated as players in the intra-city rivalry matchup: USC's Norton, Richard and Rocky Seto and UCLA's Neuheisel, Carnell Lake and Reggie Moore.
