Because of the week off, the Trojans go into Notre Dame week further along on their preparations than a normal game week. The offense's game plan is already 90 percent installed, and the defense's is in roughly the same spot.
So the practices this week -- starting with today's at 4 p.m. -- will take on a sharpening, honing feel to them instead of an air of newness that usual game week workouts have.
"We need to get some good work done today because the coaches are seeing where everything fits into the game plan," Coach Carroll told the players during this afternoon's team meeting.
Today is technically called "Bonus Monday" for the Trojans, since it's an extra day afforded by the lack of a game to review from the weekend. This afternoon's practice will be beefier than a typical Monday but shorter than a normal Tuesday.
