While there were many positives to talk about during Tell the Truth meetings today, penalties were the hot topic after USC committed five personal fouls during the second half of Saturday's 34-27 win.
Regardless of how debatable some of the calls were, Coach Carroll emphatically addressed the issue with his team, saying that the players need to "clean this stuff up" and remove the "self-inflicted pains" from the game.
"Let's take a new step," Carroll said at the end of an impassioned speech about avoiding penalties. "If we want to be great, if we want to be a championship team, if we want to go places, we have to take this to a new level. We have got to elevate our awareness.
"We don't want to be like everybody else -- we want to be Trojans."
