Super troopers

DUBLIN, Ohio -- Everywhere the Trojans go in central Ohio this weekend, a six-motorcycle escort from the Columbus Police Department is leading the way, keeping the three-bus caravan together and slicing through whatever traffic may arise.

It's obviously a huge benefit for the USC traveling party -- and it's also a perk for the police officers as well.

Receiving the assignment of escorting visiting teams around the city is one of the most coveted gigs in the Columbus Police Department, the officers said. It takes so much seniority to even be considered for the task that the junior officer on this weekend's crew has 22 years of experience in the department.
