Getting ahead

Two members of USC's equipment staff headed out to Columbus today, getting a jumpstart on the weekend and preparing the way for the team's arrival tomorrow night.

Assistant equipment managers Seth Svendsen and Tre Limbrick took off on a Cincinnati-bound flight out of LAX early this morning and, upon touchdown in Ohio (well, northern Kentucky, to be exact), will make the two-hour drive to Columbus to begin game preparations. They'll unpack the 1,700-pound shipment of gear that was sent out on Tuesday, rent trucks and vans for the team's equipment needs, set up the ballrooms and meeting rooms in the team hotel and begin working in the visitors' locker room at Ohio Stadium.

"We're going to take care of the odds and ends and nick-knack type of stuff so when the team gets there, it's like home," Limbrick said.

Svendsen and Limbrick will be joined by the remainder of the equipment staff when the team arrives late Thursday night.
