Looking good but feeling better

Following this afternoon's practice, the Trojans will restart a peculiarly named tradition.

They'll enter the weight room and commence "TV Arms."

The super-quick workout conducted every Thursday night before a game is dubbed the funny nickname because players are trying to pump some last minute iron so they look strong on game day. But head strength and conditioning coach Chris Carlisle said the workouts are actually conducted for another, more important reason.

"After a hard week's work, the weightlifting flushes oxygenated blood through muscles to promote healing," Carlisle said.

And what about the appearance issue on game days?

"They look good already," Carlisle said while laughing.
