Taking an advance

Exactly four months before the USC-Ohio State game, director of football operations Matt Capurro is taking care of the prep work.

Capurro left L.A. today for a three-day "advance trip" to Columbus, Ohio and South Bend, Ind., to prepare the way for the Trojans' road games this fall to play Ohio State and Notre Dame. Capurro will spend tonight and Wednesday setting up the team's hotel arrangements, visiting Ohio Stadium and working out other logistics in Columbus before spending Thursday in South Bend to finalize hotel and transportation issues for the Trojans' trip to play the Irish in mid-October.

Capurro's trip is routine for a staffer in preparation of out-of-conference road games. Last May, previous director of football operations Dennis Slutak and executive assistant Morgon Fraser visited Charlottesville, Va., to figure out the logistics of the Trojans' trip to play the Cavaliers last August.
