Howard Jones field just isn't the same this week.

The legendary practice field is being transformed into a location for a satellite graduation ceremony this Friday, with a 75-yard-long tent and more than 2,500 seats temporarily covering the turf for a satellite commencement ceremony for the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.

Come Saturday, though, the field will be back to normal -- with very few aftereffects of the unusual week that was.

"It'll get trampled down and a little dried out, but it'll be alright," athletic fields supervisor Eric Warren said this afternoon while coordinating the placement of the folding chairs where the 30-yard line usually crosses the field.

Workers begin placing the more than 2,500 folding chairs underneath the massive white tent on Howard Jones field this afternoon.

Though the iconic practice field has been transformed into a graduation ceremony location, Howard Jones field hasn't been stripped of all its football characteristics, as the goalposts and faded yard lines are still present.
