So much for a summer break.
Only a week after the spring semester's finals week wrapped up, summer school at USC is beginning today, with 60 players enrolled in the accelerated semester for the next six weeks. About two-thirds of scholarship players take summer school to expedite their progress toward a degree so they can put themselves in position to graduate either a semester or full year early. Summer school has also allowed players like Jeff Byers and Garrett Green the opportunity to complete their degrees and even enroll in graduate programs before their eligibility runs out.
