Speed racers

We reported last week that safety Taylor Mays (with a 4.25 40-yard dash) is the fastest player to play at USC in Coach Carroll's eight seasons.

Needless to say, there were a lot of doubters.

Most people didn't believe it, saying Reggie Bush had to have been faster. Well, the truth of the matter is that Mays, actually, is the speedier one.

According to head strength and conditioning coach Chris Carlisle (who runs all the testing each offseason), Bush's fastest 40 at USC was a 4.28, which officially gives Mays the title of "fastest Trojan under Carroll."
