That rule applies to everything, whether it's on the field or off, and especially with the media and what the players say. Coach Carroll doesn't give any seminars or tips on how to deal with the media other than to constantly refer back to that all-important tenet.
"Rule No. 1 is all about having a conscience and our guys have a really strong conscience about protecting the team in everything they do," Carroll said. "You've got to have a humility in dealing with the media and the guys have really taken hold of that principle."
