This afternoon's team meeting was a lesson in the basic philosophy of the USC football program: It's all about the ball.
Always.
The scrimmage on Sunday was a breeding ground for turnovers, so Coach Carroll used meetings today to address the issue and work toward improving the loose footballs and wild throws.
"Everyone's got to do everything they can to protect this football," Carroll said while flipping through film from Sunday's scrimmage, which included three turnovers. "Don't give the ball up -- we can't be a good football team if we do.
"You've got to come through with this; it can't be more clear. This is what makes us. If you want to be normal, keep doing this stuff. We've got to set our standards high all across the board."
