During this afternoon's team meeting, the Trojans watched highlighted film from Thursday's practice, including one head-to-head battle between offensive lineman Jeff Byers and nose guard Jurrell Casey in 1-on-1s. The handful of intense matchups had the players on their feet while bellowing "boom" for every big hit or block.
Also in the highlight reel was a comical flashback to the game film of the 2006 USC-Arkansas game with the Trojans leading, 44-7. The game footage showed Mitch Mustain and Damian Williams (both of whom were playing for Arkansas at the time) connecting for a deep completion down the right sideline before safety Josh Pinkard pushed Williams out of bounds. Then film from Thursday's practice reappeared, with almost the exact same play happening on Howard Jones field -- with Mustain and Williams now in USC jerseys. Needless to say, the players were howling while looking at the tape.
