Five Trojans have been selected on the first day of the NFL Draft today, including three in the opening round to give USC 74 all-time first-round draft picks. The Trojans were well represented on the first day of the 2009 NFL Draft:
- QB Mark Sanchez • New York Jets, 1st round (5th overall pick)
- LB Brian Cushing • Houston Texans, 1st round (15th overall pick)
- LB Clay Matthews • Green Bay Packers, 1st round (26th overall pick)
- LB Rey Maualuga • Cincinnati Bengals, 2nd round (38th overall pick)
- DL Fili Moala • Indianapolis Colts, 2nd round (56th overall pick)
The second day of the Draft, which features the third through seventh rounds, will be on Sunday beginning at 7 a.m. on ESPN. Six more Trojans are expected to be drafted.
