A Better LA hosted an Easter event this weekend, and volunteer Scot Obler has checked in with a recap and photos from the day:
A Better LA helped sponsor and host Easter in the Park at Queen Anne's Recreation Center on Saturday. Hard-working volunteers for A Better LA and Unity One worked together with the Parks and Recreation department to host approximately 1,000 people. All guests enjoyed carnival snacks and listened to a live band, while the kids hunted Easter eggs, were treated to a puppet show and were given an Easter basket at the end of the day. The park itself had beautiful facilities and all the kids there seemed to know the park director. It was really cool to see the results when a community invests in itself.
A Foundation For Kids, who has participated in each event with A Better LA was on hand again to provide the food, games, crafts and bounce houses. Each event that A Better LA hosts gets better, and the volunteers carry Pete Carroll's philosophy of doing things better than they have ever been done before as they look to improve every facet of making the event welcoming and enjoyable for the neighborhood families who attend. If you would like to see first hand what A Better LA is accomplishing in these community events, you are invited to volunteer by registering on www.abetterla.org (enter your contact information and check the volunteer box) and be a part of helping change communities from within. You can also stop by our table to learn more about ways you can be involved at Swim With Mike (April 18) or the Trojan Huddle (April 25).
Even if Will Ferrell hasn't extended his coolness to Twitter yet, A Better LA has and you can follow them at: www.twitter.com/abetterla.
