Thoughts from Thursday's practice, through the eyes of USCRipsIt...
- One fatal snap -- or lack thereof -- killed the offense near the end of today's turnover-themed practice, as a botched exchange between Aaron Corp and center Jeff Byers led to a Michael Morgan fumble recovery and a victory for the Trojan defense on Turnover Thursday.
- Other than that one play, the offense had an exceptional overall performance Thursday, winning 15-13 in 7-on-7 drills and turning in several stellar plays throughout the half-pads workout. "The offense was as sharp as we've been all spring," Coach Carroll said in the post-practice team huddle. "It was a really good day for us."
- The fateful turnover on the penultimate drive of the practice ended what was lining up to be an epic series for Corp and the first-team Trojan offense against the first-unit defense. Starting at his own 2-yard line, Corp went 4-for-4 while leading the offense 74 yards in nine plays before the fumbled snap. During the drive, tailback Stafon Johnson had a few long gains and tight end Anthony McCoy had a pair of lengthy receptions to give the offense major momentum prior to the turnover.
- During 7-on-7 period, Matt Barkley produced a spectacular completion down the right sideline that had coaches heaping praises on him. "Oh, that's so good!" Coach Carroll exclaimed while high-fiving the freshman.
- Wideout Travon Patterson turned a short reception into a 15-yard touchdown after he juked the cornerback to squirt free for the score in the final team period of the day.
