Thoughts from Tuesday's practice, through the eyes of USCRipsIt...
- Tied at 19 with two plays left in the helmets-only workout, the defense clamped down and didn't give the offense even a whiff of the overall practice victory, riding a sack and excellent downfield pass coverage on the final pair of snaps to clinch a 21-19 win on Competition Tuesday.
- Though the offense lost the team period, it blew out the defense during 7-on-7 drills, capturing a 29-16 victory and recording eight touchdowns, three of which went to wideout Damian Williams.
- Safety Will Harris swooped in for a beautiful interception along the right sideline on one play during team period.
- On one play during 11-on-11 drills, defensive end Everson Griffen came screaming off the left edge and chased down the quarterback, who was rolling out to the right, for an impressive sack that drew praises from his coaches and teammates. "That is so good!" Coach Carroll exclaimed while high-fiving Griffen. "Wow, that is so good!"
- During field goal period, kicker Joe Houston went 4-for-4 and connected on a 48-yarder, while Jordan Congdon went 3-for-4 and made a 47-yarder.
- Garrett Green, wearing a gold quarterback jersey, took his first reps at wideout this spring and caught a few passes during 7-on-7 and team periods.
- The offense installed screen passes for today's workout and caught the defense off-guard several times, including one C.J. Gable catch-and-run down the left sideline during team period.
